2019 Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Malbec
Nestled high in the foothills of the Andes, Terrazas de los Andes takes its name from the “terrazas”, a series of terraced plateaus at the foothills of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 800 to 1,800 metres. Sourced from variety of vineyards located in the Mendoza sub regions of Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley with vines aged between 20 to 80 years, the 2019 Reserva Malbec was aged in a combination of used French oak for 12 months.
Rich, very polished and flush with delicious red to black fruits.
Beautifully coloured deep inky black core with an opaque dark red black tinged hue. Alluring scents of blackcurrant, liquorice and ripe blueberry intoxicate the olfactory senses. Fleshy plum, vanillin cedar, earthy dried herb and gentle spice notes ensue. Rich, very polished in its feel and fleet of foot, the mid weighted palate is flush with delicious red to black currant, blueberry and red liquorice fruits. Vanillin cedar, light earthy tobacco and spicy dried herb characters flow beneath. Medium to fine grained tannins and a nicely integrated freshness provide both structure and energy to the long highly finessed finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Plenty of black plum and tobacco with hints of crushed stone on the nose. Full-bodied with a dense and intense palate, offering lots of fruit and richness. Long and flavorful finish. Delicious now, but the tannin structure will allow it to age well. Drink or hold.
