2019 Trimbach Mandelberg Grand Cru Riesling

Previously known as Cuvée M, this wine has been renamed Grand Cru Mandelberg since the 2016 vintage. It is sourced from one hectare of vines over 60 years old, planted in sparse, pebbly, limestone soil with marl-limestone and a south-southeast exposure. Mandelberg is one of only three Grands Crus in Alsace that are not adjacent to the sub-Vosges hills.

Here’s one for those who think riesling is always a light wine. A rich, mouth-filling and succulent wine that easily has enough freshness to carry the ample body and cornucopia of ripe yellow fruit. Great structure through the long, texturally complex finish. Drink or hold.
