Totally opaque black dark red heart with a vibrant dark red hue. Aromas of dark plum and liquorice show good lift out of the glass with blackberry, earth. Dried herb and spice notes also evident. Rich spicy dark plum and liquorice fruits overlay an earthy back drop of leather and vanillin characters. A robust tannin structure imparts a chewy feel. Fresh underlying acidity with a dark fruited conclusion showing some rustic charm.

Other Reviews…..
In Monferrato, the 10ha Galarin estate produces a wide range of wines from international as well as local varieties. In the Carosso family since the late 18th century, the property only began bottling its wines in the 1980s. Blended with 5% Freisa, this wine comes from 60-year old vines from the Rorisso site, with yields very low at about 30hl/ha. After fermentation in steel, the wine ages in barrels and casks of various sizes for about 18 months. Estate certified organic since 2016. Stephen Brook: Rich, vibrant black fruit nose. Supple but concentrated, spicy and oaky with a touch of mocha. Good acidity and length. Vincenzo Arnese: Elegant nose good and rich structure, shows a little warm finish yet has a good intensity in the flavours. Sara Bachiorri: Dried cranberry and cherry aromas, with sweet spices. Moderate body and acidity with ripe tannins. A good wine overall from a very dry warm vintage. Drink 2023-2032.
