2020 Deep Woods Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot

Deep Woods Estate has firmly established itself as one of Margaret Rivers brightest stars. Lead by the highly talented Julian Langworthy the winery has been awarded more than 70 trophies and 250 gold medals under his stewardship.

Gloriously fruited, supple and refined in structure this a beautiful Margaret River blend that delivers great value.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Malbec that was matured in French oak barriques (20% new) for a period of 18 months. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Attractive scents or red to black currant and mulberry show excellent intensity out of the glass as they morph into vanillin cedar, tobacco, earthy black olive and bay leaf notes along the way. Richly fruited, the mid weighted palate features supplely textured blackcurrant and mulberry fruits over a cedary tobacco, earthy black olive and spicy bay leaf back drop. A fine grained tannin structure lends polish to the long, refined finish that’s brimming with sublime red and black fruit.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

2020 was a glorious vintage and it's here for all to see. Structural, dense, concentrated and broody, the length of flavour tails out through the long finish – in fact, far longer than any $35 wine has any business being. Drink by 2035.
