Other Reviews....
A very ripe yet still reasonably fresh nose combines notes of liqueur-like red and dark berries, discreet floral and just slice fennel hints. There is exceptionally good density to the opulent, indeed almost thick, flavors that deliver reasonably good length if more limited depth on the slightly awkward finish. This should eventually harmonize but it will need at least a few years of cellaring to do so. Drink from 2035+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

There are only two barrels of Bouchard's supremely elegant 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru, derived from a parcel at the southern end of this large climat, at the top of the slope, where the soils are thin and the vines are shaded from the late-afternoon and evening sun by the tree line. Offering up inviting aromas of cherries, plums, sweet spices, orange oil and forest floor, it's full-bodied, elegant and fine-boned, with a concentrated core of fruit, velvety tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, saline finish. It's a worthy follow-up to the beautiful 2019.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru, picked 30 August, has a lovely, complex and well-defined bouquet with brambly red berry fruit, white pepper and clove. The palate is well balanced with a fine spine of acidity, tensile and energetic with a touch of white pepper and clove on the finish. This is a very impressive Chambertin. Drink 2027-2050.

Neal Martin - Vinous

The last plot to be picked at the domaine because it is up against the forest. Just over 50% whole bunch vinification. Fairly deep purple, not black, at the moment it is the power that shows through, followed by a stricter structure than the Clos de Bèze. Plenty of power, but the tannins are well balanced. The best quality here is the exceptional length.

Bouchard owns a 0.15ha parcel at the top of the slope along its southern border - a very cool site that is among the last to ripen and delivers a wine with very low pH and lots of structure. The aromas are both red and black fruit in character with a pronounced saline/chalky edge. The fruit is mostly destemmed and vinified with a proportion of whole clusters prior to ageing in cask over two winters (50% new). The wine has a lovely density and plenty of structure yet it is not lacking in fruit. A marvellous success. Drink 2025 - 2050.
