Slightly more apparent wood (though still nicely subtle) is present on the overtly floral-suffused nose where notes of lemongrass, mineral reduction and iodine add breadth. There is impressive volume to the powerful and delineated yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that where the texture is akin to sucking on tiny rocks. The balanced bone-dry finish is refreshingly crisp in no small part thanks to the citrus-tinged acidity. Drink 2030+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is clean and fresh on the nose, a little more austere than the 2019 yet beautifully defined with perhaps more mineralité. The taut, fresh palate has wonderful salinity and a vibrant finish that belies the warm summer. Drink 2025-2048.

The regular Clos gave a better yield than the Hospices. Classy bouquet, as ever on the understated side. On the palate the quality shows, a little bit yellower than sometimes but neither exuberant nor heated. Very persistent, as indeed a Clos should be.
