2020 Domaine des Escaravailles Heritage 1924 Rasteau

This gorgeous 100% Grenache opens with a deep dark red black tinged colour and dark red hue. Wafting out of the glass are heady scents of black raspberries, liquorice and black cherries which are interwoven with dried meat, scorched earth and peppered herb notes. Concentrated and powerful, waves of rich, super succulent black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry fruits swamp every corner of the mouth. Infusions of provincial herbs, scorched earth, incense like characters and peppered meats lie underneath. Ripe chewy tannins lend some muscle to what is otherwise a lavish feel. Concludes very long and seductive.

All Grenache from very old vines and the clay soils of the Les Fouquesses lieu-dit, the 2020 Rasteau Héritage 1924 reveals a vivid purple/ruby hue to go with perfumed aromatics of kirsch liqueur, ground pepper, and flowery incense.
