2020 Gembrook Hill Chardonnay
Brilliant pale straw colour with a greenish tinged outskirts and watery hue. Aromas of green apple, citrus and pear meld into a faint whiff of honeysuckle and stony mineral like notes. Showing excellent intensity and length the mid weighted palate is decorated with fleshy nectarine, ripe pear and dried honey flavours which sit over green apple, light biscuity oak, quince and stony mineral characters. Gently creamy mid palate finishing dry and fresh with a lick of lively acidity on the long refined aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews….
Made from vines planted in Gembrook in the Upper Yarra in 1983. Whole-bunch pressed into large-format (300 and 500L) old French oak. A medium green gold. Complex with aromas of yellow peach, grapefruit pith and spices. A powerful and creamy textured wine, this will provide enjoyment now and over next 5 or so years. Drink by 2027.
