2020 Iron Cloud Rock of Solitude Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec
Midnight black heart with a deep dark red hue. Fragrant red to black currant and plum aromas blossom from the glass followed by some dried herb, cedary tobacco and spicy black olive notes. Mid weighted and showing good flesh, red currant, red plum and mulberry fruits drive the palate with spicy vanillin cedar, tobacco and dried herb characters lying underneath. Fine grained tannins with a savoury yet ripe medium length conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Gosh, this is good. Super-supple fruit that achieves both plushness of tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. Cabernet from Geographe has a really generous chocolate character that is woven through the blackcurrant and cassis fruit. It makes for pleasurable drinking. Add to that a whack of malbec and the resulting wine is floral, satisfying, elegant and delicious. Great effort. Drink by 2031.
