2020 Lucia
Other Reviews....
The 2020 Lucia is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aging for 10 to 16 months in French oak, 30% new. The alcohol is 14.5%. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls out of the glass with ready-for-business notes of crushed black plums, fresh blackberries and black cherries, plus suggestions of menthol, powdered cinnamon and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers ripe, generous black fruits with impressive freshness and a velvety texture, finishing long and fragrant.

A young wine with fantastic depth and richness. Lots of fruit and velvety tannins that are intertwined in layers. Rich and focused. Chewy finish. All here, with the potential to become something great.

This estate continues to produce a ripe, modern, yet still classic Saint-Emilion, and their 2020 Château Lucia is a beauty. Ripe black raspberry and cassis fruits as well as floral, spice, and oak-laced notes define the bouquet, and it’s wonderfully pure, with textbook Saint-Emilion minerality and a great finish. It’s going to need short-term cellaring but will evolve for over two decades.

Dark in color, you find chocolate mint, fruit cake, plums and cherries galore in the nose. On the palate the wine is round, lush, polished, sweet and fruity, with an opulently textured, chocolate and cappuccino drenched finish.
