2020 Penley Estate Tolmer Cabernet Sauvignon
Totally opaque black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Nosing offers up aromas of blackcurrant alongside some liquorice with dried herb, tobacco and spicy cedar notes also evident. Displaying ample richness the medium bodied palate is well endowed with ripe blackcurrant fruits infused with bay leaf. Subtle cedary tobacco, earth and spice characters lie underneath. Finely rendered tannins with fresh acidity and a mid length finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
Supple, elegant, fine-framed cabernet – hard to see where to 14.5% alcohol is hiding. This is super-pretty, fragrant and lithe, littered with red berries, flowers, blood plums and bay leaves. The palate is a little more substantive and weighty than the Phoenix, but that's to be expected for the extra money. This has presence and poise. Gorgeous. Drink by 2031.
