2020 Powell & Son Marsanne

Powell & Son’s Marsanne is based on the great Hermitages of Northern Rhone where richness and hedonism are the corner stones of the style. The Powell’s aim for lower acidity and high phenolic content which provides richness on the palate and requisite phenolics to age. Barrel fermented in 50% new French oak, it is lees stirred and undergoes malolactic fermentation and maturation in French oak.
Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Opulent scents of ripe peach, apricot, honeycomb, crème brulee, butterscotch and spicy nougat engulf the nostrils. Rich and decadently textured the palate features a powerful flavour profile of spicy ripe peaches, crème brulee and honeycomb. Also chiming in are apricot, butterscotch and nougat characters. Finishes dry with plenty of fat and viscosity to the long luscious aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
