2020 Shinshu Mars Distillery Komagatake Yakushima Aging Cask Strength Single Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)

Matured in the company’s maturation halls on the small island of Yakushima, located off the south of mainland Japan. The island provides a warmer ageing environment. Bottled in 2020, expect flavours and aromas of juicy citrus, tropical fruits, a little peat followed by sweet custard. Like last years, this is natural strength, so expect a hefty Japanese malt. 53% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Palate: Pineapple, banana, vanilla slice, marzipan, dark chocolate, red peanut skins, grapefruit, strawberry conserve, passionfruit, salt & pepper. With water malt and pistachios. Medium bodied. Finish: Lemon tart, white pepper. marzipan, dusty oak, licorice, cacao paste, oak tannins and what seems like some light peating. Last Word: Tasty young Mars and consistency of quality has become a hallmark for their single malts.
