2020 Sutton Grange Fairbank Syrah
Totally opaque black dark purple colour with a dark purple hue. Inky dark cherry and liquorice scents are interwoven with earth, vanillin cedar and peppered herb notes. The mid weighted palate sports a savoury flavour profile of spicy dark cherries and liquorice over inky earth, subtle vanillin cedar and peppered herb characters. Nicely fleshed with slightly dryish tannins and a lingering earthiness to the aftertaste. A very savoury expression of central Victorian Shiraz.z
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

Other Reviews….
A collaborative project following the disastrous spring frosts in 2019 that wiped out the 2020 crops. A blend of fruit sourced from Heathcote and North Harcourt. Matured 9 months maturation in French oak (15% new). In keeping with the Fairbank Syrah style, we see an elegant expression of the grape, deep and engaging in black fruits, blueberry, pepper, spice and chocolate. Juicy fruit on the palate is nicely wrapped in fine tannins, driving the wine towards a smooth finish. Drink by 2032.
