2020 Tenuta Ulisse Amaranta di Ulisse Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

For the seventh or eighth year in a row… we’ve lost count… this wine has yet again received a 99 point rating from Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.
Aged for 9 months in French and American oak barriques. Dense inky black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. A mix of ripe morello cherry and liquorice aromas greet the nostrils with some vanillin earth, cinnamon and spice notes also evident. Rich decadent morello cherry, black plum and liquorice fruits are interwoven with prominent toasty vanillin oak, earth and spicy cinnamon characters. Opulently textured and concentrated a sturdy tannin structure firms up the finish. Concludes long, rich and chewy with a lingering toasty vanillin cedar and cinnamon aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
