2020 Terrazas de Los Andes Reserva Malbec
Nestled high in the foothills of the Andes, Terrazas de los Andes takes its name from the “terrazas”, a series of terraced plateaus at the foothills of the Andes mountain range, scattered over altitudes ranging from 800 to 1,800 metres. Sourced from variety of vineyards located in the Mendoza sub regions of Lujan de Cuyo and Uco Valley with vines aged between 20 to 80 years, the 2020 Reserva Malbec was aged in a combination of 1 to 4 year old French oak barrels for a period of 12 to 14 months.
Classic Mendoza Malbec – richly fruited, polished, refined and savoury.
Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Swamping the olfactory senses are intense dark to black cherry, blackcurrant and liquorice aromas which are intermeshed with a mix of dried herb, blueberry, vanillin cedar and spice notes. Medium to full in body the palate is decorated with deliciously juicy dark cherry, red plum, liquorice and blueberry fruits which overlay a dusty vanillin cedar, dried herb and spice back drop. Fleshy mouth feel with a beautifully integrated fine grained tannin structure. Concludes long, refined and very savoury.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews…..
Red plums with some crushed-stone and tile undertones. Some graphite and fresh flowers, too. Full-bodied with juicy tannins and a fruity, firm and juicy palate overall. Plenty of malbec character, but tensioned and not heavy. Solid structure. Sustainable. Drink now.
