2021 Alex Moreau Chassagne-Montrachet
Significant changes have taken place at the estate previously known as Bernard Moreau, as brothers Alex and Benoît have divided the domaine and now run separate operations. Starting with the 2021 vintage, the estate has now been renamed Domaine Alex Moreau in recognition of Alex's three decades of dedication to the family venture.

A more complex if moderately similar nose offers more in the way of white orchard fruit aromas that are trimmed in subtle wood nuances. There is fine mid-palate density to the delicious and appealingly intense medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by bright acidity on the bitter lemon-inflected finale that displays excellent length for its level. This too could use better depth, but more should reasonably develop. Lovely.

Clean mid lemon, assembled on its fine lees but not yet fined. A clean, even and balanced chardonnay nose which develops a richer white fruit with a greengage edge further back on the palate. Some salinity helps provide the tension. Drink from 2024-2028.

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village exhibits aromas of pear, toasted nuts, white flowers and citrus oil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate with tangy acids and a seamless, elegant profile.
