2021 Astobiza Txakoli

Astobiza is produced from the traditional Basque varieties Ondarrabi Zuri (90%) and Ondarrabi Zuri Zerratie (10%). The fruit is Estate grown and vinified using hand-picked fruit, meticulous hand-sorting, and a cool, slow fermentation to preserve its aromatic qualities. The resulting wines are crisp and vibrant, showcasing strong notes of pear, citrus, and stone fruit. The wine's acidity and saline character make it a perfect match for the savory and seafood dishes of the Basque Country.

Txacoli is a great summer white, light in body and perfect for pairing with fish or seafood. It's usually a coastal wine, often with a slight spritz. This incarnation comes from further inland, near Rioja – it's fuller bodied than some, and doesn't have a spritz. It's still utterly delicious though, with a brisk, marine aroma, softening on the palate slightly to give juicy green apple flavours. Fresh and vibrant, drink it in its youth. Drink 2022 - 2023.
