2021 Curly Flat Pinot Noir
Other Reviews....
This is very much the sum of its parts with fruit cherry-picked across various estate blocks. And now that the word cherry has popped up, plenty in this, red and morello in particular. It has some whole-bunch punch both aromatically and on the palate, zesty and tangy with perky acidity a feature of this vintage. Plenty of tannins work across the medium-bodied palate and there's a lipsmacking, moreish finish. Drink 2023 - 2035.

Most of the better Macedon Ranges pinot noirs are ever-so surly in their youth. This one too.
The fruit here is backward, in a good way. It tastes of red cherry and plum with an earthen, sweet-sour edge, though bunches of twig, juniper and general herb notes are at play too, if in an integrated way. Complexity, it certainly has covered. There’s excellent tannin here, a solid-if-fine-grained frame, though it’s not delivered at the expense of flow. This moves along in a brooding, thoughtful way, as if concerned about its future, not that it needs to be. Everything, for this wine, in time, will be just fine. Drink 2026 - 2033+
