Other Reviews....
Firmer and more compact than the supple, expressive Cazetiers, the 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru delivers aromas of cassis and plums mingled with notes of rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, lively and tensile, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, it will require a bit of patience.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Feb 2023)

The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a perfumed nose and is rather floral in style. Traces of blue fruit and pressed iris flower combine succinctly with the red fruit. Again, there is wonderful delineation here. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's cohesive and smooth in texture, nothing weighty. The 2021 might lack density for some, but it is so harmonious and charming that you won't be able to resist. Drink 2025-2040.

Neal Martin - Vinous (Nov 2022)

Rousseau's Charmes is the first grand cru tasted in the cellar. The emphasis here is on the purity of fruit and silky expression rather than the lush density of some growers. There is a hint of spice to the ripe, ethereal cherry aromas, but there is no new wood in the maturation here – 'you have to avoid crushing it with new wood', according to Cyrielle. It is produced from a combination of relatively young vines in Charmes proper with old vines from Mazoyères, which give a very elegant result. Drink 2025-2045.

Charles Curtis MW - Decanter (Nov 2022)

A discreet application of wood frames pure aromas of red cherries, just turned earth and a floral top note. The supple but racy middleweight flavors aren't quite as concentrated but they're finer with retaining good power on the sour cherry-inflected finale that delivers excellent length. Lovely and a wine that should also repay mid to longer-term keeping. Drink through 2033+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound (Jan 2024)

Light to medium colour, not much nose is evident, discreet red fruit on the palate, perhaps over discreet for this cuvée, light fresh strawberry, with a trace of acidity. This may put on a little more weight later in life. Drink from 2026-2031.
