2021 Felton Road Block 3 Pinot Noir

Felton Road's vineyards are managed using organic and biodynamic viticulture, ensuring the highest quality fruit arrives at the winery. From there winemaking is intentionally hands off with gravity flow, wild yeasts, wild malo, and an avoidance of fining and filtration to help preserve the expression of its terroir.
Felton Road farms four properties totaling 32 ha in the Bannockburn sub-region of Central Otago. This wine is taken from Block 3 of The Elms vineyard where a deep bench of glacial soil is interspersed with calcarious seams.

The 25th bottling of Block 3. Time passes! Tasted alongside the 2019 and 2014 Block 3 (I liked the 2021 the best).
Intense cherry and spice, more of a ‘mineral’ feel here with an excellent set of high quality tannin, they really lay out over the mouth, a twang of burnt orange peel, and a firm finish of good length. Intensity moved up a notch in this wine, and impressive it is too. Drink 2023 - 2029+
