2021 Forest Hill Vineyard Block 9 Shiraz
From vines planted in 1985. Midnight black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Elevated aromas of black cherry and liquorice infused with a mix of smoked meats, blackpepper, scorched earth and vanillin cedar rise out of the glass. Rich, powerful black cherry and liquorice fruits flood the full bodied palate with notions of vanillin cedar, scorched earth, fennel and peppered meats lending complexity through the back half. Power packed it has a ripe chewy tannin structure and finishes very long, deeply fruited and peppery.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14%
Other Reviews….
Single site, dry grown, planted 1985 – a precious vineyard with a rich history. It's all about black fruits laden with spices, licorice and tannins engraved into the flesh of the fruit. A savoury/cedary backdrop anchors on those tannins. Drink by 2046.
