2021 Fraser Gallop Estate Cabernet Merlot
A blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot matured for 9 months in used French oak. Deep dark red colour with black shaded edges and a red to dark red hue. Attractive red currant and mulberry aromas are interwoven with cedary tobacco notes, dusty earth, hints of black olive and dried herbs. Mid weighted and possessing an elegant feel the palate features spicy red currant and mulberry fruits over a dusty cedar, tobacco, black olive and dried herb back drop. Nicely integrated fine grained tannins with a refined medium length conclusion layered with bright red fruit.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 13.5%
Other Reviews….
A hand-picked 59/28% blend (with small amounts of cabernet franc and petit verdot) of destemmed, whole berries, 10 to 14 days on skins; matured for nine months in used French barriques. It’s succulent and juicy, awash with cassis, soft tannins quietly holding the wine’s shape. Drink to 2030.
