2021 Il Poggione Rosso di Montalcino
Deep dark red colour with black toned edges and a dark red hue. Delightful red currant and red cherry aromas infused with hints of rose petal are trailed by some dusty earth, tobacco and spicy dried herb notes. Mid weighted spicy red currant and red cherry fruits are featured over an earth, dried herb and tobacco back drop. Elegant rustic like feel with slightly grippy, chalky tannins and energetic acidity. The vibrant red fruited conclusion laced with spice and earth.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
A nicely spicy Rosso di Montalcino with cloves, dried flowers, sour cherries and orange peel on the nose. Creamy and medium- to full-bodied, with chalky tannins and a ripe, chocolaty finish. Drink or hold.

The 2021 Rosso di Montalcino is an immediate standout, with a classic, dusty blend of dried cherries, worn leather and earth tones further complicated by seared meat aromas. It’s polished. Crunchy minerality underscores pure red fruits, all guided by vibrant acidity. This leaves the mouth watering for more as an orange and cranberry crunch lingers. The 2021 is a fantastic, dynamic Rosso that excites me to see what the Brunello of the vintage will bring. Drink 2024-2028.
