2021 John Duval Wines Plexus Shiraz Grenache Mourvedre
A blend of 48% Shiraz, 28% Grenache and 24% Mourvedre aged for 15 months in French oak of which 10% was new. The Shiraz component was sourced from old vineyards at Krondorf, Ebenezer and Tanunda. Grenache was sourced from vineyards at Tanunda, Ebenezer and Eden Valley, and Mourvèdre from Light Pass and Ebenezer.
Dense midnight black heart with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Alluring aromas of dark raspberries, liquorice and dark plum flood the nostrils followed by some vanillin cedar, earth and spice notes. Seductive blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry fruits supplely kiss the palate. Delicate vanillin cedar, earthy mocha and spice characters lie underneath. Superb intensity and depth with silky smooth tannins seamlessly integrated with the glorious plush fruit. Concludes long with a refined opulence.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews....
A juicy and fruity red with blackberry and some dark chocolate and graphite character. Lead pencil, too. Medium-bodied with creamy and integrated tannins and a juicy finish. Savory and delicious. Some iodine. A blend of grenache, shiraz and mourvedre. Drink or hold.
