2021 Kalleske Moppa Shiraz

The fruit for this Shiraz is sourced from Kalleske’s certified organic Moppa vineyard with grapes coming from ten different blocks, the oldest of which was planted in 1961. Troy Kalleske reports that the 2021 vintage was a stunning one for quality, “Vintage 2021 was an exemplary year with fine wines and good yields.  Growing season rainfall was marginally below average and temperatures were mild ensuring vine canopies remained healthy.  Vintage weather was absolutely perfect throughout, with dry mild-warm days and cool nights ensuring even and steady ripening across all varieties.  There is strong colour and flavour across all the reds along with excellent structure and balance.”
Small dollops of Petit Verdot (7%) and Viognier (2%) were included in the blend to provide added complexity and give the wine a contemporary edge. Maturation took place in a combination of approximately 25% new French, American and Hungarian oak hogsheads for 13 months.

An immense Barossa Shiraz flush with rich, decadent fruit.

Pours a spectacular super dense inky black colour with an equally deep black dark red hue. Wafting out of the glass are intoxicating aromatics of blackberry, liquorice and dark plum which are married to dark chocolate, vanillin oak and spicy mocha. Rich, full in body and plush the palate is engulfed with decadent blackberry, liquorice and dark plum fruits which create a mouthfeel of great opulence. Vanillin oak, mocha and spice characters ensue. Velvet smooth tannins. Displaying superb depth and power in finishes long, lavish and sumptuous.
