2021 Messwein Stift Goettweig Gruner Veltliner
High in the hills across the Danube River between Krems and Dürnstein sits the Stift Göttweig monastery which offers breath-taking view of the Wachau valley and its surrounding landscapes. Home to wine making activity since 1094 the monastery also owns some fabulous vineyards which are managed by the renown Fritz Miesbauer who was the driving force behind the revitalisation of Domäne Wachau.
Brilliant water like core with greenish tinged edges. Delightful pear, red apple skin and musk aromas are followed by hints of rosewater and spiced lychee. Wonderfully concentrated, the palate is alive with pear, red apple and lime fruits. Subtle notions of lychee and wet stone lie underneath and are backed by lightning like, flinty mineral infused acidity. Dry zesty finish with a long racy mineral laced aftertaste. Fantastic value.
