2021 Ministry of Clouds Blewitt Springs Single Vineyard Shiraz
Matured in a mixture of 1 and 2 year old French oak puncheons for a period of 11 months. Dense inky black colour with a vivid dark red purple tinged hue. Nosing offers up intense aromas of dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry which are interwoven with vanillin cedar, fennel, faint dark chocolate and pepper notes. Rich, sumptuous and plush in texture the palate features a silky flow of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice fruits over notions of fennel, vanillin cedar and subtle dark chocolate which linger across the back half. Possessing an underlying blueberry like freshness and very polished tannins it concludes long and opulent yet refined.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
From a celebrated dry-grown vineyard planted in 1960; hand picked, gently destemmed to preserve the intact berries; open fermented and matured in new and used French puncheons. This is such a lovely shiraz, alive with black berry fruits, and touches of savoury tannins, dark chocolate and licorice that all hang together. Drink by 2056.
