Smit family from Tallarook in Victoria makes the Muto label. They source organically farmed fruit and make wine with a low-intervention approach.
This needs a moment to breathe. Meaty, flinty, lightly smoky with a violet and cherry top note, and woody-twiggy spice. Juicy and easy on the tongue, with grainy tannins and a loose finish, but generally lifted feel to flavour. It fits the Syrah bill comfortably, at the less complex but more fun end of things, fragrant, savoury-fruity style, with a lighter tension and concentration in the conclusion. Simply joyful. Drink 2024 - 2026.
