2021 Old Plains Terreno Old Vine Grenache
Matured for 18 months in French oak barriques. Very deep black dark red in colour with a dark red hue. Aromas of spicy dark raspberries and dark plums mix with some liquorice, dried herbs and scorched earth. Ripe and plump the mid weighted palate features dark raspberry and liquorice fruits over vanillin oak, subtle earthy dried herbs and spice. Bright finish with polished tannins and a mid length aftertaste.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Other Reviews….
This wine shows the adaptability of Grenache over Shiraz, to warm climates. 60 year old vines from the Noto vineyard. Ripe raspberry, biscuit spice, aniseed and dried mint, a stony ferrous thing happening. It’s rich and plush, a flood of sweet raspberry and baking spices, supple grainy tannin, dried roses and potpourri, some ‘mineral’ character, and a long slightly tarry finish. Fleshy, distinctive, and very good. Drink 2022-2029.
