2021 Seville Estate Chardonnay

Brilliant pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of nectarine, citrus and a hint of grapefruit emerge from the glass followed by some dried honey and gun flint notes. Fresh and elegant the palate features vibrant nectarine and citrus fruits over a subtle dried honey, biscuity nougat and delicate gun flint infused back drop. Gently creamy in its feel it finishes with good energy and length.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

The majority of the estate chardonnay comes from one site; an east-facing slope planted in 1996. Whole-bunch pressed and barrel fermented in French puncheons (20% new) and foudre. An effortless wine that has power but doesn't feel as if it's been 'made' or forced in any way. Subtle stone fruits, spice and a mineral note that follows onto the palate which is simultaneously generous yet restrained; the acidity in total harmony with the fruit. In a word – lovely. Drink by 2029.
