2021 Sons of Eden Marschall Shiraz
Sons of Eden have been at the forefront of a new wave of Barossa winemakers revitalising the regions wine styles. Whilst some have pushed the barrier a little too far, overshooting the mark in their pursuit of elegance and freshness at the sacrifice of Barossa’s trademark richness, these boys regularly hit the bullseye. Right through their range of reds they are a model of consistency combining Barossa’s famed rich fruit with supple textures, a delicious savouriness and a fresh feel, never losing sight of what Barossa does best – produce rich, opulent full bodied reds.
From the outstanding 2021 vintage this marries glorious rich Barossa fruit with a modern feel.
The Marschall Family vineyards are located in the Tanunda and Ebenezer districts of the Barossa Valley with vines aged between 20 to 31 years old. Maturation takes place in a mix of new and seasoned oak hogsheads for a period of 14 months.
Magnificent impenetrable inky black colour with an equally deep dark purple black hue. Intense ripe dark plum and liquorice aromas sail out of the glass closely pursued by hints of blackberry, vanillin cedar, subtle dark chocolate, spicy fennel and pepper notes. Gloriously rich and plush, mouth filling dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and blueberry fruits carry a supple feel over a back drop of vanillin cedar, hints of dark chocolate, fennel and spicy pepper characters. Silky smooth tannins finishing with superb power, plenty of freshness and a long seductive aftertaste.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews…..
Another top shiraz with lead-pencil and graphite character to the dark fruit. Full-bodied and tight with firm tannins that run the length of the wine. Finishes with lead-pencil shavings. Very unique. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

From six vineyards in six districts, with a wide range of fermentation techniques, matured in new and used French hogsheads for 14 months. A smooth, supple medium-bodied wine is the result, with plum and blackberry fruits, integrated oak and tannins. Value-plus.
