2021 Tenuta Ulisse Amaranta di Ulisse Montepulciano d'Abruzzo
For the eighth or ninth year in a row… we’ve lost count… this wine has yet again received a 99 point rating from Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.
Aged for 9 months in French and American oak barriques. Dense pitch black heart with a deep dark red black hue. Aromas of morello cherries, liquorice and black plum fill the nostrils followed by some toasty vanillin oak, earth and spicy cinnamon notes. Rich and opulent the palate features a liqueur like flavour profile of morello cherries, black plum and liquorice. Toasty vanillin oak and spicy cinnamon characters echo across the back half. Showing ample concentration it has a sturdy tannin structure and long, lavish toasty vanillin oak and cinnamon dominated aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
