2021 The Willows Vineyard Shiraz
Seven generations of the Scholz family have been farming The Willows property since 1845. Their estate Shiraz is sourced from 2 to 3 different blocks with the vine age varying from 20 to 55 years old. Maturation took place in 80% French and 20% American oak hogsheads for a period of 24 months.
A palate staining showcase of Barossa’s trademark opulence and power.
Dense pitch black heart with an equally deep dark red black hue. Intense dark plum, liquorice and blackberry scents intermix with some toasty vanillin oak, subtle earthy mocha and spice notes. Rich and voluptuous, palate staining dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits are delivered with terrific power and concentration. Notions of dark chocolate, vanillin oak, subtle earth and spice elements lurk beneath. Thick and dense it boasts silky smooth tannins and a very long conclusion that’s pure opulence.
