2022 Bannockburn 1314 Pinot Noir
Fruit was sourced from the whole gamut of Bannockburn’s Pinot blocks, planted in 1976, 1997 and 2007 and also benefits from healthy dose of the estate’s iconic (and certified organic) close-planted vineyards. The fruit was mostly destemmed and includes a measure of whole-bunch (20%) as well as a carbonic element. It was fermented wild and raised with 20% new oak.
Semi translucent dark red colour with black shaded edges and a light red hue. Fragrant violet led scents of dark cherry, strawberry and rhubarb draw the senses in, interweaving with dried herb, clove, delicate stalk, forest floor and spice notes along the way. Delicious cherry and rhubarb flavours make a supple entrance with dried herb, forest floor, spice and sappy cedar like characters also chiming in. Silky smooth tannins with fresh acidity providing an agile feel to the elegant and savoury conclusion.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
