2022 Bouvet Saphir Brut Vintage
Outside of Champagne, Bouvet is the most awarded Sparkling Wine House in France, garnering high praise from critics like Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, Decanter Magazine, James Suckling and many others. After many years of ownership by Champagne Taittinger, Bouvet Ladubay is once again fully owned by the Monmousseau family who have continuously run the business since their purchase in 1932. Bouvet Ladubay employs precisely the same wine making process as Grand Marque Champagne, delivering French sophistication at an everyday price.
Delivering remarkable value this is quite possibly the best vintage of Bouvet Saphir yet.
A blend of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay that’s aged for a minimum of 18 months on lees. An exuberant mousse holds well over a pale straw coloured base that has pale gold tinged edges and a generous stream of delicate bubbles flowing through it. Expressive pear, baked apple and yeast lees aromas are trailed by citrus, delicate toast and subtle chalk notes. Loaded with flavour the mouth watering palate features ripe pear and apple fruits over a yeast lees, citrus and gently toasted brioche backdrop. Soft airy feel with crisp, stimulating acidity leading into a long scrumptious finish.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 12.5%
Other Reviews…..
A precise, succulent and textural Saumur with notes of apples, ripe pears and sweet spices. Medium-bodied with fresh acidity. Bright and agile, with fine bubbles and a focused finish of excellent length. Drink or hold.
