2022 David Duband Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Thorey Premier Cru

David Duband is regarded as one of the rising stars of Burgundy. He took over his family domaine at a very young age and now has more than 20 vintages of experience behind him. Starting out with small family holdings David, together with his business partner Francois Feuillet, have added to their portfolio of wines through the purchase of some exceptional old Grand cru vineyards throughout Gevrey Chambertin and Morey St Denis, including prime holdings of retiring vigneron Jacky Truchot.

This too is very pretty with its perfumed array that blends cool and airy aromas of various red berries with a plethora of floral elements. Once again the mouthfeel of the sleek middleweight flavors is nothing short of gorgeous while exuding a subtle bead of minerality on the firm, serious and solidly powerful finish. I really like the balance and overall, if this can add depth, it could be something very special in time. Drink through 2032+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Pink purple, more in fruit, less in flowers, yet with a white pepper crunch at the back. This is a graceful Nuits, but could use a little more energy perhaps. Drink from 2030-2035.
