2022 DCB Wine Chardonnay

Winemaker Chris Bendle’s day job is at Hoddles Creek Estate but he still finds time to work on his own venture, DCB wine, sourcing fruit from a vineyard in Gladysdale in the picturesque Upper Yarra. The 28 year old vines are planted on an east facing slope and maturation takes place in a mixture of barrique and demi muid barrels.

Rich yet wonderfully refined, this delightful Yarra Valley Chardonnay possesses a degree of sophistication rarely seen at this price.

Brilliant pale straw to straw colour with a greenish tone to the edges and a watery hue. Drifting out of the glass are aromas of white peach and nectarine which are complexed by hints of dried honey, cashew, nougat and spice. Rich yet wonderfully refined, the mid weighted palate is greeted with a flavour profile of white peaches, nectarine, dried honey, cashew, nougat and spice that are delivered with more than ample concentration. A gentle creamy textural feel is complimented by deftly balanced acidity. Finishes long with a degree of sophistication rarely seen at this price.
