This is also quite smoky with its ripe, fresh and cool aromas of white peach, spiced apple and a plenitude of floral elements. Once again there is a beguiling texture to the delicious middleweight flavors that enjoy very fine concentration that translate to impressive power on the balanced, clean and dry finale. Like several of the wines in the range, this could use more depth but given the quality of the underlying material, that should simply be a matter of patience. One to buy. Drink through 2030+.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a compelling bouquet with wet limestone, petrichor and Granny Smith on the nose. This has very good vigor. The palate is well-balanced with an understated opening, just a light walnut and white peach note emerging with time and rounding out the finish. Very fine. Drink 2025-2040.

Mid lemon and lime. A little touch of oak, some graceful suggestions of fruit, but not much yet on the nose. Very classy on the palate though, with a steely backbone on top of which some high class fully ripe citrus, and some orchard fruit combine happily. A fine long classy finish completes this excellent Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts. Drink from 2027-2034.
