2022 Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Santenay Les Charmes Dessus
Other Reviews....
Ripe and nicely fresh aromas include those of poached plum, purple fruit and plenty of earth character. There is a finer, but not denser, mouthfeel to the lightly stony middleweight flavors that deliver fine length on the overtly saline finish. Like the Boutière, this too could use better depth so some patience should prove helpful. Drink through 2029+.

The 2022 Santenay Les Charmes-Dessus has a riper bouquet than the Prarons, with ebullient dark plum and boysenberry fruit, though maybe missing a little complexity. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly more austere tannins. It's a bit sultry this Santenay, though there is a lovely touch of orange rind on the dense finish. Needs time. Drink 2025-2035.

More purple than ruby. Quite an elegant bouquet, red berry and cherry elements. Red soil, more limestone than clay, on the rocks. Good acidity without much depth is typical. Slightly lighter bodied than Prarons with a racy red fruit, elegance too. Not obviously in the style of a ‘Charmes’ vineyard, but delicious. Drink from 2026-2030.
