2022 Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Blanc La Charme Aux Pretres
Rich, mouthfilling flavours counterpointed by excellent freshness with a long refined yet texturally caressing finish.
Domaine Charles Audoin was formed in 1972 by Charles and his oenologist wife Marie-Francoise, starting with three hectares in Marsannay. Their holding has now grown to around 14 hectares that captures some of the best parcels in Marsannay. Their son Cyril joined his father in 2000, and is now in charge of both vineyard and winemaking activities for the Domaine. Cyril is increasingly focused on vineyard health, to deliver wines with pure varietal expression and a sense of place. They are among the most serious wines from the area, and while juicy and approachable young, have the capacity to age gracefully for many years.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Pronounced white peach and dried honey aromas mix with hints of apricot, crème brulee, bacon fat and spicy nougat. Rich, creamy textured and mouth filling, the palate is decorated with fleshy ripe peach, dried honey and more subtle crème brulee flavours. Citrusy nougat, delicate biscuit and spice elements the undercard. Excellent freshness with a long refined yet texturally caressing finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews....
Audoin's 2022 Marsannay La Charme aux Prêtres Blanc reveals attractive aromas of green apple, pear, white flowers, citrus zest and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with good cut and tension, it's one of the domaine's livelier whites.
