2022 Domaine Charles Audoin Marsannay Clos de Jeu
Domaine Charles Audoin was formed in 1972 by Charles and his oenologist wife Marie-Francoise, starting with three hectares in Marsannay. Their holding has now grown to around 14 hectares that captures some of the best parcels in Marsannay. Their son Cyril joined his father in 2000, and is now in charge of both vineyard and winemaking activities for the Domaine. Cyril is increasingly focused on vineyard health, to deliver wines with pure varietal expression and a sense of place. They are among the most serious wines from the area, and while juicy and approachable young, have the capacity to age gracefully for many years.
Clos de Jeu is located at the Couchey end of the Marsannay sector on the mid slope around the 300m contour. Wines from here can produce a relatively muscular and powerful Marsannay with good tannic structure.
Other Reviews....
Plenty of dark forest-berry aromas, developing some roasted character with aeration. Super-concentrated and polished, this has fantastic energy on the medium- to full-bodied palate, the depth and finesse at the finish very impressive. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

Rich and ripe, the 2022 Marsannay Clos de Jeu delivers notes of minty cherries, berries and spices deftly framed by new oak. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and fleshy, with attractive depth and plenitude, it concludes with an expansive finish.

This is also wonderfully fresh and bright with its array of relatively deeply pitched aromas of cassis, black raspberry and a hint of smoked meat character. The rich and quite generously proportioned medium weight flavors don't possess the same driving minerality but do offer even better power on the chalky and youthfully austere finish that could also use better depth so a few years of keeping should prove beneficial. Drink through 2030+.
