Domaine Christian Moreau is one of the most respected names in Chablis blessed with magnificent vineyard holdings in the best areas of Chablis. The highlights are undoubtedly the amazing range of Grand cru vineyards including one single holding of approximately 3 hectares in Les Clos as well as 0.41 hectares of Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos plus slightly smaller holdings in Valmur, Blanchots and Vaudesir. The wines are gaining in even clearer expression with the vineyards having been certified organic since 2013 and together with some new tanks and other investments the results are showing clearly in the wines with each vintage. These are wines of precision, crystal clear typicity, and elegance that will age classically while enabling tremendous enjoyment throughout their lives.

Other Reviews....
A slightly cooler nose reflects notes of white pepper and a touch of the exotic while the wood treatment, while subtle, is a bit more noticeable. The old vines are in evidence as the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is markedly denser as the sappy extract coats the palate while buffering the moderately firm acid spine shaping the very dry, more complex and slightly long finale. Lovely. Drink through 2029+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

The 2022 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru Cuvée Guy Moreau has a stricter bouquet than the regular cuvée: petrichor and gunflint underlying the veneer of yellow plum and citrus lemon. The palate is very harmonious with a twist of sour lemon that imparts tension from start to finish. There's a patina of welcome fire on the aftertaste that keeps you coming back. Excellent. Drink 2026-2042.

Neal Martin - Vinous

Vinified half and half, stainless steel and wood, then all racked to tank in late May and will be bottled in January. Mid lemon yellow colour. A broader style of fruit though not yet very much detail. A certain bitter lemon note at the back. Currently awkward though obviously with longer term potential. Drink from 2027-2034.
