2022 Domaine Christian Moreau Valmur Chablis Grand Cru

Domaine Christian Moreau is one of the most respected names in Chablis blessed with magnificent vineyard holdings in the best areas of Chablis. The highlights are undoubtedly the amazing range of Grand cru vineyards including one single holding of approximately 3 hectares in Les Clos as well as 0.41 hectares of Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos plus slightly smaller holdings in Valmur, Blanchots and Vaudesir. The wines are gaining in even clearer expression with the vineyards having been certified organic since 2013 and together with some new tanks and other investments the results are showing clearly in the wines with each vintage. These are wines of precision, crystal clear typicity, and elegance that will age classically while enabling tremendous enjoyment throughout their lives.

More evident wood frames ripe aromas of white fleshed fruit, lemon-lime, mineral reduction and a suggestion of quinine. The exceptionally rich yet intense and powerful big-bodied flash a taut muscularity on the impressively long, very dry and impeccably well-balanced finale. Drink through 2032+.

The 2022 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru has a delightful bouquet with fine delineation and pixelation, real class and pedigree, pure and refined. The palate is taut and linear, understated at first, deepening towards the finish with hints of almond and lanolin. A complex and refined Valmur that is Moreau's greatest achievement in 2022. Drink 2026-2048.

Half tank, half wood, will be blended very soon now. Clean clear pale lemon yellow. The nose shows a lightly salty character with a block of orchard fruit behind. This wine is massive on the palate, like a solid block of marble, with a little toast, a little citrus and a touch of salt for seasoning. Still totally youthful. This should develop extremely well. Drink from 2030-2040.
