Domaine Coquard Loison-Fleurot produce exceptional Burgundy, yet are still firmly under the radar for many collectors. Given they enjoy an enviable collection of six Grand Cru vineyards, and the expert winemaking skills shown by the talented Thomas Colladot, Coquard Loison-Fleurot won't remain hidden for long.

For many years the grapes from the property were sold to negociants, however as these contracts begun to expire in the early 2000's they started taking back the production, and brought on Thomas Colladot in 2010 to oversee winemaking duties. While not certified, organic practices are used in the vineyards, with all fruit hand harvested and whole cluster fermentation used where and as desired depending on the plot and vintage conditions. New oak varies between 30-50% for most wines, and élevage lasts between 15 and 18 months, before bottling is conducted in-house. The wines of Coquard Loison-Fleurot are characterised by their purity and transparency of their terroirs.

Other Reviews....
The 2022 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has an open and expressive bouquet with brambly red fruit, Earl Grey, and light forest floor scents, with a hint of morels in the background. It is not as opulent as the Clos de la Roche, though it conveys more Pinoté. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit. Smooth in texture with a dab of dark chocolate and vanilla, imparting a soupçon of exoticism towards the finish. Moderate length. A delicious Grands Echézeaux that might drink younger than some of "CFL's" other Grand Crus but certainly has the substance to mature in bottle. Drink 2027-2055.

More of a crimson purple, raspberry seedless, taken a bit of oak, but superlative nonetheless and exceptionally long. Completely mouth filling with great charm, fills all the nooks and crannies. An excellent balance between the fruit acidity and tannins. Still going strong in my mouth several minutes later! Drink from 2032-2040.

Ripe, fresh and restrained aromas are comprised by notes of red and dark currant, plum, a similar variety of spice elements and pretty floral nuances. I very much like the texture of the delicious medium-bodied flavors that aren't super dense but do possess good power and plenty of minerality while displaying excellent depth and length on the balanced finish that really fans out as it sits on the palate. One aspect that makes this so seductive is that the finish, while certainly built-to-age, has a lovely natural sweetness to it that renders it hard to resist. Drink through 2034+.
