Sylvain Cathiard built a fearsome reputation through the 1990's and early 2000's for producing some of the greatest wines of Burgundy. His ability to marry fragrant and perfectly ripe grapes with expertly chosen new oak set the standard at the time. While the wines were more approachable than his peers, they also had the requisite components to age and evolve gloriously for many years. Now under the stewardship of his son Sebastien, the wines have gained even more acclaim and are equally as well built for an envious evolution in the cellar.

Other Reviews....
A wonderfully spicy nose that could be from nowhere other than Vosne offers up notes of mostly red berries, exotic tea, sandalwood, clove and hoisin hints. There is impressive density to the rich and seductively textured yet powerful large-scaled flavors that are supported by firm tannins on the sappy, long and impeccably well-balanced finale. This is also terrific and completely different than the Reignots. Drink through 2034+.

Allen Meadows - Burghound

Another of the more large-scaled wines in the range is the 2022 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots, a medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy effort redolent of baked plums, sweet red berries and orange zest mingled with petals, spices and creamy new oak. Built around powdery tannins, it concludes with a saline finish.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a refined bouquet, eschewing the opulence of this vineyard for something more cerebral - a mixture of red and black fruit, violet and hints of loam. The palate is medium-bodied with a gorgeous, velvety entry. It has the depth of the En Orveaux, yet there is more body and precision on the finish. It fans out wonderfully on the aftertaste and lingers long in the mouth. Superb. Drink 2027-2048.

Neal Martin - Vinous

A clear ruby colour. The nose starts all in elegance, quite floral, fine and delicate, very few tannins, more a fine tensile strength through the middle, delicate raspberry notes, and very good length as the wine climbs up the other side of the Suchots valley. Drink from 2030-2037.
