2022 Domaine Vincent Dancer Bourgogne Blanc
Vincent Dancer runs a tiny operation based in chassagne-Montrachet where he crafts his wines from five hectares of well-situated vineyards. The winery is small even by the standards of Burgundy, and despite Dancer’s reclusive nature, the wines are well known to a small circle of restaurateurs and wine-lovers who reliably take their miniscule allocation year after year. Vincent is quietly individualistic, creating his own lean, bright, and savory style of wines, trusting his instincts and experience to make the best possible wine in his own way.
Dancer's Bourgogne Blanc is sourced from two different vineyards: one in Meursault (planted in 2001); and one in Puligny-Montrachet (planted in 1990). Vinification is both in tank and old oak, and is more villages-level quality than its humble appellation may suggest. This is a wine of terrific gravitas and complexity for its status; it’s got real density but also wonderful vibrancy.
