2022 Envinate Taganan Tinto
Táganan is both the name of a village on the very north eastern tip of Tenerife and a local term for steep slope. Envínate make two reds and two whites from this village; Táganan Tinto and Blanco, which come from multiple old parcels and two crus, parcelas Campanario and Margalagua. All the wines are field blends containing a dizzying array of obscure local varieties grown on very old bush vines in the steep volcanic soils overlooking the ocean.
Other Reviews....
The just-bottled 2022 Táganan Tinto is juicy and primary but with very good balance and no excess. It has less reductive character and is sapid and balanced. They did slightly shorter macerations and used a little more full clusters for this wine. It's a very good vintage for this bottling. 4,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2023. Drink 2025 - 2030.

Perfumed with sulfurous, beautiful, funky notes that immediately hook you in. Vibrant, wild and transparent, with lots of pomegranate, wild raspberries, sour red berries, white truffle, chalk, white pepper funk and an ashy nerve. Volcanic! Bright and ethereal with svelte tannins and mouthfeel. Soft, fine tannins with a juicy, mouthwatering finish. Irresistibly delicious now.
