2022 Epsilon Shiraz

Epsilon is the project of Aaron and Julie Southern (Julie is a member of the Kalleske clan) who own vineyards in the Northern part of Barossa. As the familiar story goes with so many growers they sold off their fruit to larger wineries until a chance meeting with the Massena boys Dan Standish and Jaysen Collins. Under their guidance they convinced them to start up their own brand in 2004 and build a winery on the property. Maturation takes place for approximately 12 months in new and seasoned French and American oak with only the best batches making the final blend.

Draped in rich, succulent, velvety fruit yet refined in it’s feel, this is one irresistible Barossa Shiraz.

Dense inky black heart with a deep bright dark red black hue. Heady dark plum, blackberry, liquorice and black cherry aromas waft out of the glass with some ensuing gently smoked vanillin cedar, fennel, hints of dark chocolate and spice lending further interest. Rich, plush and sumptuous the palate is drenched with succulent waves of dark plum, liquorice and black cherry fruits which are flanked by flashes of smoky vanillin cedar, earthy fennel characters and blackpepper. Fantastically concentrated and opulent it shows great underlying freshness and possesses velvet like tannins. Flooded with juicy dark to black fruit the long finish nonetheless maintains a refined feel.
