Produced predominantly from Smith’s vineyard which was planted back in 1978, the vines are tended by leading viticulturalist Mark Walpole who was responsible for introducing a number of emerging Italian varietals to Brown Brothers North East Victorian vineyards during the 1990’s. Together with winemaker Adrian Rodda, one of Beechworth’s emerging stars, they make formidable team, their 2022 Chardonnay quite possibly their best yet.

Moreishly rich, powerful and beautifully shaped this is a rising star of Beechworth.

Brilliant very pale straw core with distinctive green toned edges and a watery hue. Engulfing the nostrils are intense white peach, ripe nectarine, dried honey, cashew, biscuity nougat, subtle grapefruit and struck match stick notes. Rich and concentrated yet simultaneously wonderfully refined and fresh, the palate is draped with layers of white peach, nectarine and subtle grapefruit flavours. Notions of dried honey, roasted cashew, biscuity nougat characters and infusions of gun flint lend further sophistication to the back half. Texturally full and creamy it carries beautiful shape right through the long power packed finish. An exceptional Beechworth Chardonnay.
